Terms of use
Effective 19 August 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and ScriptCam covering the ScriptCam iPhone app and this website. Installing the app or using this site means you accept them. They are written to be read, not to be impressive.
Your licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use ScriptCam on Apple devices you own or control, in line with the App Store Terms of Service. The app is licensed to you, not sold. You may use it commercially — recording videos you sell, or that promote your business, is exactly what it is for.
What you may not do
- Copy, decompile, reverse engineer, or attempt to extract the source code, except where law expressly permits it.
- Rent, resell, sublicense, or redistribute the app.
- Use it to record people who have not agreed to be recorded, where the law requires their consent.
- Use it to produce material that is unlawful, or that harasses or defames somebody.
- Attack, overload, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to this website or the systems behind it.
Your content is yours
Scripts you write and videos you record belong to you. We claim no ownership, no licence, and no right to use them — which is straightforward for us to promise, since they never leave your device. You are responsible for what you record and for having the rights to any material you read out.
Availability and changes
ScriptCam launches free. We may add paid features later; if we do, features you already have will not be taken away and put behind a paywall. We may change, suspend, or discontinue parts of the app or this website, and we may stop supporting older versions of iOS as Apple does.
Purchases, if and when they exist
Any future subscription or one-time purchase will be sold through Apple, charged to your Apple ID, and managed in your Apple account settings. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends. Refunds are handled by Apple under their policies — we cannot issue them ourselves, though we are happy to tell Apple that we support your request.
No warranty
The app and this website are provided "as is". We do our best to make voice tracking accurate, but speech recognition is imperfect, and background noise, accents, microphone quality and language all affect it. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error free, or fit for a particular purpose. Do not rely on it as the only copy of anything important.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, ScriptCam is not liable for indirect or consequential loss — lost footage, lost income, missed deadlines — arising from your use of the app or this website. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, which for a free app is nothing.
Apple
Apple is not a party to these terms and has no responsibility for the app. Apple has no obligation to provide support for it. If the app fails to conform to any warranty Apple is required to give, you may notify Apple and they will refund the purchase price, if any. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
Ending the agreement
You can end this agreement at any time by deleting the app. We may end it if you breach these terms. Sections that by their nature should survive — ownership, warranty disclaimers, liability — survive.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and without depriving you of consumer protections you are entitled to where you live.
Changes to these terms
We will update the effective date at the top when these terms change. Continuing to use the app or website after a change means you accept the revised terms.
